January 20, 2026 – Škoda Auto India officially introduced the updated Kushaq to the Indian market, reinforcing its strategy of making European engineering more accessible on the country’s roads.
The compact SUV debuts with segment-first technologies, such as a new eight-speed automatic transmission with a torque converter and even a massage function for the rear seat, along with an expanded package of equipment and safety features.
The model continues the success of the Kushaq launched in 2021, which has already surpassed 94,900 units sold and has begun to be exported to growing markets such as Vietnam, the Middle East, and Africa. The update also supports the brand’s plan to establish India as its second strategic pillar outside Europe.
Made in India, for India
Developed on the MQB-A0-IN platform, the Kushaq was created by teams in India and the Czech Republic with a focus on value for money and adaptation to local conditions. The SUV retains features valued by customers, such as ventilated electric front seats, cruise control, a rearview camera with sensors, wireless charging, and generous interior space, now combined with new convenience and technology features.

Modern Solid design and debut of the Monte Carlo version
Visually, the Kushaq adopts the Modern Solid design language, featuring a new front grille with chrome ribs and an illuminated light strip. The front now includes full LED headlights, front parking sensors, and LED fog lights. At the rear, connected taillights with sequential indicators and an illuminated Škoda name reinforce the visual identity.
The model will be offered in eight colors, including three new ones: Shimla Green, Steel Grey, and Cherry Red. For the first time, the sporty Monte Carlo version will be available from launch.
Turbo engines and new automatic transmission
Maintaining a ground clearance of 188 mm, the updated Kushaq introduces a new eight-speed automatic transmission with a torque converter, paired with the 1.0 TSI engine, which delivers 85 kW (116 hp) and 178 Nm of torque, also available with a six-speed manual gearbox.
The 1.5 TSI engine, meanwhile, offers 110 kW (150 hp) and 250 Nm, featuring Active Cylinder Technology, and is paired exclusively with a seven-speed DSG transmission. In this version, the SUV also comes with disc brakes on all four wheels.
AI assistant with Google technology
One of the model’s highlights is the new 10.1-inch infotainment system, compatible with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The system incorporates an advanced voice assistant based on the Google Automotive AI Agent, with Gemini integration, enabling contextual voice commands for navigation, music, calls, and climate control.
Developed with a focus on the local market, the assistant recognizes different Indian English accents, making interaction more natural and inclusive.
Enhanced safety
The updated Kushaq maintains a global five-star NCAP rating and now offers more than 25 active and passive safety features as standard across all variants, including six airbags. Higher trims exceed 40 safety items. Additional improvements, such as a rear wiper and defogger and automatic wipers with a rain sensor, enhance visibility and safety in different weather conditions.
